The OBS translation plugin

One audio filter that turns your speech into live, translated captions — built for OBS Studio, tuned for streaming.

Plugin

What the plugin does

The BabelStreamer OBS plugin runs as an audio filter inside OBS Studio — no separate app, no second window to manage while you're streaming. It listens to your mic source, transcribes it locally, and sends the text to BabelStreamer's translation service for distribution to viewers.

Speech recognition

  • Recognises English, French, German, and Spanish speech
  • Select a game for game-specific vocabulary, so terms and callouts come through right
  • Add your own personal vocabulary — slang, names, or words you use a lot
  • Choose from a selection of speech models, or use the default

Translation & delivery

  • Translates into 13 languages in real time, viewer by viewer
  • Delivered on a link that runs in parallel with your stream — near-zero added latency
  • Works with Twitch and YouTube, plus any other site via the browser extension
  • Translated captions can be downloaded as .srt files after the stream
